Jessica Markham
Graduate Student, Boston University
Jessica is a doctoral student studying special education under the guidance of Dr. Hank Fien. As a former teacher and practicing school psychologist, Jessica has a deep interest in the role that policy plays in educational decision-making and implementation of evidence-based practice for all students. Specifically, Jessica is interested in implementation of academic and mental health supports in schools and how laws and policies can alleviate barriers to implementation of such supports. Additionally, Jessica supports developmental research and technical assistance of the National Center on Improving Literacy and researchers at BU Wheelock that focuses on providing high-quality evidence-based services to students with learning disabilities and the implementation of school-wide intervention systems. Her doctoral research currently focuses primarily on services for students with learning disabilities, the implementation of literacy practices and dyslexia-related policies, and the development and implementation of interventions for students with comorbid conditions.
Jessica holds a B.S. in Special and Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, an Ed.S. in School Psychology from the University of Washington Seattle, and is both a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) and licensed School Psychologist for all levels in Massachusetts and Washington state.
